截至2019年10月3日,，德特里克堡基地所在的馬里蘭州出現(xiàn)23例（僅包括自愿報告的病例）電子煙疾病病例后,，該州衛(wèi)生部長羅伯特·尼爾對醫(yī)生發(fā)布了新的命令。

2019年11月1日，美國有線電視新聞網(wǎng)（CNN）在一檔節(jié)目中,，報道了一起疑似電子煙肺病死亡病例,。患者瑪麗·凱利在去世兩個月后,，其家人仍然無法確定死因是否與電子煙有關(guān),。CNN首席醫(yī)療記者桑杰·古普塔在連線時表示，美國從2007年開始售賣電子煙,，此前從未出現(xiàn)過類似的神秘肺病案例,，這兩者之間的關(guān)系仍然值得探討。
